In the world of feline companions, it’s an universal truth that cats are drawn to the tantalizing scent of fresh fish. But this particular cat has left this statement questionable.
Recently, a Malaysian man posted a viral clip featuring his cat, whose unusual behavior stood out as it surprisingly ran away from after sniffing fresh fish and refused to eat it.
M’sian man’s cat flees after he tried offering it raw fish
In the 15-second video shared by TikTok user @naemdaos, the man named Naeim Firdaus is seen casually grabbing a raw fish from an ice-cream container and offering it to his cat.
Unlike what most people would expect a cat to do upon being offered raw fish, Naeim’s cat takes a sniff of it and immediately sprints away like an athlete in a race.
Despite Naeim’s attempts to ‘tempt’ his cat with the fish, it only caused the feline to run away even further.
This unusual behavior left him understandably confused, where he quipped in the caption: ‘Is my cat broken?’
Netizens amused
The clip, which has since garnered close to 230,000 views at the time of writing, saw netizens expressing amusement over the cat’s bizarre reaction towards the raw fish.
‘Got system error. Need to take it to the workshop.’
‘He’s vegetarian lah. HAHAHAHA.’
‘The cat’s probably afraid that the fish would eat him up.’
‘It doesn’t want fish. It wants KFC instead.’
Naeim later revealed that he had been feeding his cat Kibbles and wet food since it was a kitten, which may have been the reason for its frightened reaction towards the raw fish.
