A 23-year-old woman from Palembang, Indonesia, captured public attention after an extraordinary chain of events saw her arrested for impersonating a flight attendant only to later receive a full scholarship to genuinely pursue her dream career.
Her name is Khairun Nisa, and her story began with a shocking incident that unfolded at an airport, before taking an unexpected turn that changed her life.
Boarded flight wearing fake cabin crew uniform
Nisa boarded a Batik Air flight from Palembang to Jakarta dressed in what appeared to be a nearly identical replica of the airline’s cabin crew uniform. Her hair, makeup, and attire were carefully styled to resemble an authentic flight attendant.

However, the real cabin crew on duty noticed subtle differences in the uniform’s pattern and design. Suspicious of her appearance, they alerted authorities upon arrival.
When the plane landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Nisa was detained by airport security for questioning.
The real reason behind her actions
Further investigation revealed that Nisa was not driven by criminal intent, but by emotional pressure and embarrassment.
She had previously fallen victim to a job scam in Jakarta. An individual promised her a cabin crew position in exchange for Rp30 million. After she paid the sum, the recruiter disappeared, leaving her without the job she was promised.
Back home, her parents believed she had successfully secured employment as a flight attendant.
Unable to admit the truth and ashamed of disappointing them, Nisa made the desperate decision to pretend she was already working leading to her ill-fated attempt to impersonate cabin crew.
Her story touched hearts online
News of her arrest quickly spread on social media. While many were shocked, others sympathised with her circumstances, recognising the emotional weight behind her decision.
Her story eventually reached Aeronef Academy, a cabin crew training institution based in Kediri, East Java.

Moved by her determination to make her parents proud and her genuine dream of becoming a flight attendant, the academy decided to step in.
A second chance to wear the uniform for real
In a remarkable gesture, Aeronef Academy officially offered Nisa a 100% full scholarship to study cabin crew training completely free of charge, reported TVOneNews.
The scholarship provides her with proper education, certification, and legitimate training pathways so she can one day wear a real cabin crew uniform through lawful and professional means.
