An Indonesian woman in her 30s died after she reportedly fell into a lake while attempting to flee from embassy officers at Taman Tasik Lake Valley in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras.
According to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, an emergency call about the incident was received at about 4.35pm on Monday as reported by Sinar Harian.
Firefighters from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station were immediately dispatched to the scene to search for the victim.
Body found about 6 metres from the lake shore
Assistant Director of Operations for Selangor Fire and Rescue, Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, said the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) later carried out a diving operation at around 10.10pm.
The victim was located about nine minutes later.
“The team began diving operations at 10.10pm and the victim was found at 10.19pm, approximately six metres from the lake shore,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
The woman was confirmed dead at the scene.
Several agencies assisted in search operation
The search and recovery operation involved multiple rescue teams, including the Water Rescue Unit from the Port Klang, Shah Alam and KLIA fire stations.
Authorities from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), as well as representatives from the Indonesian embassy were also present to assist in the operation.
The victim’s body was later handed over to the police for further investigation.
The operation concluded at about 11.10pm.
