Tired of his neighbour’s incessant prodding into his private life, an Indonesian man clobbered him to death and was later nabbed by police.
Indonesian man beats neighbour who kept asking why he’s unmarried at 45yo
According to a report by Indonesian news outlet Detik Jogja, the victim was identified as 60-year-old Asgim Irianto, who was a retired civil servant, said South Tapanuli Assistant Police Commissioner (AKP) Maria Marpaung.
Based on a statement given to police by Asgim’s wife, the suspect, Parlindungan Siregar, turned up at their home armed with a piece of wood at around 8pm on July 29 and began hitting Asgim without warning.
While Asgim tried to flee from Parlindungan’s attacks, he was pursued and struck at the back of the head before falling to the ground. After seeing Asgim slumping to the ground, Parlindungan allegedly continued beating him.
Eventually, residents intervened and rushed Asgim to the hospital, where he unfortunately died before reaching. An hour after the attack, police managed to capture Parlindungan.
AKP Maria added that during questioning, Parlindungan said he was determined to silence Asgim once and for all by clobbering him to death as he was hurt by how often the latter jokingly asked him why he was still unmarried at the age of 45.
Detik Jogja also reported that Asgim and Parlindungan didn’t exactly enjoy a peaceable relationship prior to the attack, where they had reportedly argued with each other when the chickens they respectively owned went to the other’s coop.
While we admit that it’s sure annoying as heck to deal with nosy people, please don’t take out your frustration on them by fatally beating them!
