Indonesian Boy With Cerebral Palsy Finishes Race With Walking Frame, Moves Crowd To Tears

“I want to run too.”
A young Indonesian boy named Zeeshan, who lives with cerebral palsy, has captured the hearts of many after bravely completing a children’s fun run using his walking frame — step by determined step.

The touching moment, which took place at a local night run event, was reported by Indonesian outlet Suarasumsel.id.

A mother’s promise, a boy’s dream

Despite his condition, Zeeshan insisted on taking part after watching a children’s running competition on YouTube.

He turned to his mother, Dewi, with sparkling eyes and said, “I want to run too.”

That simple sentence struck Dewi deeply. Without hesitation, she searched for a race that would welcome her son and eventually found an event that allowed all children to participate.

Before registering, she checked with organisers whether assistive devices were allowed. Their response melted her heart:

All children are welcome — no conditions, no restrictions.”

Cheered every step of the way

On race day, the atmosphere turned magical as though the event had been created just for him.

Clutching the handles of his walking frame, Zeeshan moved forward slowly but steadily. His face beamed with joy from the very first step.

Children ran alongside him, cheering him on. Parents lined the course, clapping and shouting words of encouragement. And with each small distance he managed to cross, the crowd erupted in even louder applause.

When Zeeshan finally crossed the finish line, the entire venue burst into thunderous cheers — a collective salute to his courage.

“He wants to join again next time”

Dewi said her son was overjoyed and immediately told her he wanted to participate again if similar events were held.

She shared that the run gave Zeeshan a tremendous boost in confidence, teaching him that although his steps may be slower than others, he can still reach his own finish line with determination.

This event taught all the children what support and friendship truly mean,” she said. “And it reminded adults what real inclusion looks like.”
