A global happiness index says Singapore ranks third among the world’s happiest cities.
But according to at least one very vocal Singaporean, the only thing breaking records here is his blood pressure.

Recently released by the Happy City Index, the ranking placed Singapore just behind Copenhagen and Zurich. While some Singaporeans welcomed the international recognition, others questioned how accurately it reflected their daily lives.
“Stress until you want to cry”
One TikTok user in particular didn’t hold back. His fiery video quickly made rounds online as he sarcastically challenged the idea of Singapore being one of the world’s happiest places.
Singapore is ranked third happiest country in the world, third happiest, k*nina. Who vote one? You ask any Singaporeans on the street, we all got the same emotion; stress, tired until you want to cry. You call this happy?”
He went on to paint a vivid picture of his daily routine, highlighting the pressures faced by many working adults in the city-state. From crowded MRT rides to late-night work messages, the struggle felt all too familiar.
“Everyday my blood pressure break national record, my ‘k*chng’ (butt) never relax since I (was) born. Happy is when I sleep 12 hours, happy when I can touch my Central Provident Fund (CPF), happy when my pay go up instead of just GST,” he fumed.
The rant didn’t stop there. Wrapping up his thoughts with a sharp dose of sarcasm, he questioned the entire premise of the ranking.
“If Singapore is the 3rd happiest in the world then I am the first happiest person in the world la siak. Don’t gaslight me with happiest country.
“My ‘k*chng’ cannot tahan, my s*** is coming out already. I’m surviving, I’m not smiling, I’m not happy walao eh, who survey one this c***i?!”
The TikToker’s brutally honest monologue clearly resonated with many, with some commenting that it was better to live in Malaysia as one could own cars and houses at a cheaper price.
Some also speculated that the survey was most likely filled by foreigners living in Singapore, not the locals.
KL & PJ far behind in same index
While Singapore sits comfortably at the top of the Happy City Index, its neighbours down south aren’t quite as lucky. Kuala Lumpur came in at 167th, with Petaling Jaya trailing behind at 183rd.
