A Malaysian security guard who recently found himself in the middle of a viral street brawl with an MMA coach has broken his silence—and he says the whole thing happened out of the blue.
24-year-old Muhammad Alim Muhamad Adnizam, or just Alim to those who know him, admits he was embarrassed by the incident but says he had no choice but to “put on a brave face after the video started spreading like wildfire online.
“I am not a fighter”
Speaking to Harian Metro, Alim made it clear: he has no martial arts background whatsoever—not even silat.

He claimed the altercation stemmed from a misunderstanding between him and Tony Lim, a MMA coach, which first started inside the condominium compound where Alim worked in Shah Alam.
I had just finished my shift and was about to hand over to my colleague when that guy came up to me. I was just doing my job,” he said.
“I’ve got a temper, yes. But I won’t lash out unless provoked.”
The situation quickly escalated, and the two ended up in a physical confrontation outside the condominium—an exchange that was later captured on camera and widely shared.
“We shook hands, but the video had gone viral”
Alim said that after the incident, both he and Tony filed police reports at Balai Polis Kinrara and even shook hands, agreeing not to share the footage.
But a few days later, he found out the video had gone viral.

Suddenly my uncles and relatives were calling to ask what happened. I was shocked. I live in a flat with my family, so when something like this spreads, of course it’s embarrassing,” he shared.
This isn’t his first altercation, he added, but his previous one never made it to social media.
He has since been transferred to another residential area in Puchong by his employer, but he’s thankful he wasn’t fired.
“I accept criticisms.”
Alim said he’s read many of the comments online.
While some people were quick to criticise, many others offered constructive feedback.
No one threatened me, and I accept the criticism. In the video, I did look like I lost my temper,” he said.
Due to the ongoing police investigation, Alim couldn’t share more details, but he said the whole ordeal has taught him a hard lesson.
“The takeaway here is to manage your emotions. All this embarrassment over something so small? It’s not worth it. These days, everything can go viral.”
Alim also took the opportunity to apologise to the public and his family, and hopes people will move on from the incident.
I got four stitches on my lip, so I’ve paid the price already,” he added.
Tony Lim speaks out too
Speaking to WeirdKaya, MMA coach Tony Lim has his own side of the story.
Tony revealed that the altercation was actually a result of provocation and that he was merely defending himself when things escalated.

In a WeirdKaya interview shared on Instagram, Tony explained:
It wasn’t about ego. I was just trying to protect myself. People can only take so much before they react, and that’s what happened that day.”
Despite the heated situation, Tony emphasized that his years of discipline and MMA training played a crucial role in his response, and it wasn’t about seeking attention.
“It’s unfortunate it went viral, but that’s the nature of social media these days.”
