Malaysia is one of the first countries in the world to receive the new iPhone 17 family as it officially went on sale today (Sept 19) at the Apple Store in The Exchange TRX, Kuala Lumpur.
Apple TRX draws big crowd
This is also the second iPhone launch at Malaysia’s only official Apple Store, which opened in June 2024.

The excitement was clear — by 7:30am, WeirdKaya observed around 100 people were already lining up at the entrance.
Student arrives at 3am to be first in line
Danial Arif bin Abdul Halim, a 19-year-old student from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), was the first customer in line.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, he said that he showed up at midnight and returned at 3am to officially queue.

“I upgraded my iPhone 13 Pro Max to iPhone 17 Pro Max. The new Cosmic Orange is very wonderful.
As the first customer, I was very nervous but excited during the pre-order. By the time now, I feel very relieved,” he added.
“I have been an Apple fan since I was a kid, and I want to feel the excitement. I always see YouTubers like iJustine and others who queue early to get the latest iPhone — this is why I wanted to try.”
Danial purchased the iPhone 17 Pro Max in Cosmic Orange and came dressed in an orange shirt too.

The second person in line was Mugilan A/L Vijaya Rajah, 19, a student from UNITAR and went for the iPhone 17 Pro in Silver.
For the second time, Apple fans didn’t have to wait weeks after the international release or travel overseas — they were part of the global wave from the start.
Here’s how much it costs in Malaysia
The iPhone 17 series comes in four models locally:
- iPhone 17 starts from RM3,999
- iPhone Air starts from RM4,999
- iPhone 17 Pro starts from RM5,499
- iPhone 17 Pro Max starts from RM5,999
All models are now available online and in-store, with several configurations and colours offered.
A quick check on Apple Malaysia’s website shows that most iPhone 17 models and colours are still available for purchase and same-day pickup at Apple The Exchange TRX.
