Malaysian singer Yonnyboii has shared a painful chapter from his childhood — one that still leaves scars to this day.
The 27-year-old, whose real name is Muhammad Haqeem Nuriman Nor Azrin, revealed that he was frequently bullied in both school and hostel, calling the experience “traumatic” and “far from just harmless fun.”
Bullies showed no remorse
What hurt him the most, Yonnyboii said, was that even as they grew older, his bullies never showed any regret.
They target the weak because it’s easy. And I was an easy target,” he said.
According to HibGlam, he added that the constant harassment forced him to transfer schools multiple times.
Brushed off as ‘tradition’
Yonnyboii also took aim at the school management and hostel wardens, accusing them of turning a blind eye.
“The saddest part is no one took action because they thought it was normal. It became a tradition. Even the wardens didn’t think it was a big deal, they said it was just kids being kids,” he said.
The father of one stressed that the effects of bullying can follow victims for life.
In fact, around five years ago, he revealed that he nearly jumped out of a window at the age of 12 after classmates mocked him for having a shaved head.
Speaking out after Zara Qairina’s death
Yonnyboii’s statement comes in the wake of the death of Sabah student Zara Qairina, who was allegedly bullied.

The tragedy has sparked outrage nationwide, with Malaysians, including celebrities calling for stronger action against bullying in schools.
