A road rage case involving a Toyota Vellfire driver and a 70-year-old man in Cheras has drawn widespread public attention after a video of the incident went viral.

According to 8TV news, the assault took place at the 9th Mile area of Jalan Cheras–Ulu Langat on February 8 following a minor traffic accident.
Minor crash led to major assault
The victim, who was driving a Proton Wira, was followed by the suspect, Saiful Adli Yusof, after the initial collision.
Saiful blocked the elderly man’s car at a traffic light near Taman Suntex, kicked the vehicle, and attacked him after he stepped out.
The senior citizen suffered facial injuries including bruised eyes, a swollen chin, and a bleeding tongue. The attacker also verbally threatened the victim.
Video of attack spread widely online
Bystanders recorded the attack and shared the video online, sparking anger among netizens.
Kajang District Police Chief ACP Nazron Abdul Yusof confirmed that the 52-year-old suspect was arrested in Kajang and held for two days for investigation.
Driver charged with two offences
Saiful faced two charges at the magistrate’s court, which is voluntarily causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code and criminal intimidation under Section 506.
The prosecution called for a strong sentence to serve as a deterrent.
Saiful’s lawyer pleaded for leniency, saying his client was remorseful and promised not to repeat the offense.
The lawyer also revealed Saiful earns about RM2,000 monthly and supports his wife, four children aged between 6 days and 16 years old, and a mother-in-law with chronic illness.
The court sentenced Saiful to a RM5,500 fine, with an 8-month jail term if he fails to pay.
