A foreign female tourist recently had a rollercoaster moment while trying to board a boat at Perhentian Island, Terengganu.
According to viral videos posted on TikTok, she was hit by a huge wave while stepping off the jetty and fell straight into the sea and so did her phone.
In the chaos, her phone sank to the ocean floor. Despite the crowd gathering and watching the incident unfold, no one dared to dive in to help due to the strong currents and risky shoreline.
That’s when a brave employee from the tour company sprang into action.
Dove in not once, but twice
Without hesitation, the male worker dove into the water and made two attempts before successfully retrieving the phone from the seabed.
The video showed him resurfacing with the phone in hand, much to the cheers and applause of bystanders.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, the tourist shouted “I love you!” to him on the spot, repeatedly thanking him for his selfless act.

No reward asked
Despite the danger posed and the presence of other boats in the area, the man didn’t expect anything in return.
Many netizens praised the worker for his courage and willingness to dive into the sea for someone he didn’t even know.
Some cheekily joked that the woman should give him a tip, while others said a simple “I love you” was priceless.
While the phone was successfully retrieved, some pointed out that water damage might’ve already ruined it. Still, others noted that the data might be recoverable if the memory card survived.
