Leaving behind a steady paycheck, office perks, and a structured lifestyle isn’t easy. But for 28-year-old Parameswary Sathyamoorthy, fondly known as Mesh, the leap from the corporate world to building her own candle brand and coaching business wasn’t just a career move.

In fact, it was the start of a life she always dreamed of.

Born and raised in KL, Mesh always knew she wanted to be her own boss. But coming from a humble background, she decided to work in the corporate world first to save enough capital to fund her dream.

I worked for 5 years, gave it my all, got promoted to training coach, and by the time I quit, I had saved enough to start my own business,” she shared.

Her entrepreneurial spark, however, had been lit way back. At just 19 years old while pursuing higher studies, Mesh started a food catering business.

It was demanding, and she eventually put it on hold to gain corporate experience but the dream never left her.

In 2021, she launched her candle business, inspired by her love for self-care.

“The market was growing, and when I released my first batch, it sold out immediately. That was the moment I knew I was on the right path,” she recalled.

The courage to walk away from stability

Leaving a well-paying corporate job for the uncertainty of entrepreneurship isn’t a decision most people make lightly.

But for Mesh, it was a calculated risk.

“My family and fiancé were supportive because they knew I always had a plan. I had already had 30–40 booths even before quitting. Financially, I prepared myself well.

“There were days I worried about who would buy my candles, but the discomfort pushed me to work harder and trust myself. Within a year, we moved into an office, and in less than two years, we opened a physical store.”

Back in her corporate days, Mesh earned between RM3,000 and RM4,000 monthly, sometimes hitting five figures with bonuses. Today, her business generates six-figures a year.

Yet, she admits: “Life was more comfortable with RM3,000–RM4,000 because it was stable.

Now, I make more, but it’s no longer about comfort. It’s about passion and building something bigger.”

When life took a turn & led to a new passion

When 2023 rolled around, it proved to be an extremely challenging year for Mesh.

Suppliers closed down, raw materials were hard to get, sales dropped, and I had to let go of my full-time staff. On top of that, I gained a lot of weight,” she revealed.

But instead of giving up, she joined a fat loss competition with a total prize pool of RM100,000 and was determined to win something so she could reinvest in her business.

And as luck would have it, she did — bagging RM10,000 for winning the Best Transformation Video category.

“The competition was tough, but it reignited my passion for fitness. I used to be a personal trainer about seven years ago for around a year and a half before shifting into entrepreneurship. Joining this competition in November 2023 reminded me that I could start fresh and transform lives, beginning with my own.”

Today, Mesh isn’t just an entrepreneur. She’s also a Women’s Transformation Coach under her brand Zenbodii Fitness and a competitive Hyrox athlete, balancing business, sports, and coaching women to become their best selves.

In less than two years, Mesh can now proudly say that she had trained over 100 women, with 80% of them achieving their transformation goals.

“Watching women walk out more confident, stronger, and happier after their transformation. Using my experience to help others feels incredibly fulfilling.”

Having gone from corporate life to entrepreneurship, as well as a physical and mental transformation, Mesh has one powerful message:

“Don’t wait for the perfect time. If you feel stuck, start with small steps. Consistency will change your journey.

“Looking back, I’d tell my younger self the same thing. Trust yourself more. You’re capable of so much more than you think.”

Building a life on her own terms

From a 19-year-old catering business owner to a six-figure candle entrepreneur, fitness coach, and athlete, Mesh has proven that passion, resilience, and belief in oneself can create a life beyond imagination.

“For anyone feeling stuck doing something they don’t love. Remember, you have the power to change your life. I built everything from scratch without background or network support. You can too. Fall, get back up, and keep going.”

“I’ve achieved milestones, but I’m still hungry for more. I don’t plan to stop.”

After all, this is only the beginning of Mesh’s journey.
