‘I Hope I Made You Proud’ – M’sian Teen Visits Family’s Graves After Scoring 5As In SPM

He didn’t need a crowd, he needed closure.
What do you do with good news when there’s no one left to call?

Most students would pick up the phone right away to tell their mum, to cry with their dad, to share the moment with someone who’s been there since day one.

But when you don’t have anyone to call, where do you go?

For Muhammad Faiz Qudry, the answer was simple, and painful.

He got on his motorbike, holding his SPM result slip, and went straight to the cemetery to the graves of his mum, dad, and little sibling just so he could tell them:

Abang dapat 5A, I did it.”

A quiet celebration with the people who mattered most

While most students celebrated with family and friends, Faiz stood in front of three silent headstones the final resting places of the people who once cheered him on through every exam, every challenge.

In a video shared on social media, Faiz showed the graves of his family members placed side by side, with a caption written on the screen that read:

Ayah, Umi, Adik… Abang dapat 5A SPM.”

But that’s how it is. I can’t change fate

In another post on the same platform, Faiz uploaded a photo of himself beside the graves, gently holding his SPM result slip.

“I’ll keep trying to be the best, even if you’re not with me. I hope this small achievement makes you proud. I’m trying to stay strong. I didn’t get to walk on stage with Mum and Dad waiting for me… but that’s how it is. I can’t change fate,” he wrote.

I’m sorry if this isn’t enough, but I promise I’ll keep going.”

For Faiz, these 5As weren’t just exam results, they were a way to say, “I didn’t give up.”

“I told them I got 5As… but I didn’t feel happy. I just felt empty,” he wrote.

“I miss them so much. Thank you for everything you gave me. I love you.”

Faiz’s strength didn’t come out of nowhere. His story started with loss at a young age.

According to BuzzKini, he lost his father in 2014, and just two years later, his mother and younger sibling passed away due to pneumonia and asthma.

Since then, he’s been on his own going through life without the people who mattered most.

‘Even if I can’t see them anymore, I want to bring them happiness’

Speaking to WeirdKaya, Faiz shared that staying strong without his family wasn’t easy but their memory became the very reason he kept going.

I always placed my hopes in my family,” he said. “This is what they would’ve wanted to see. If I gave up, I’d be the one disappointing them.”

Even though they were no longer physically around, Faiz continued to study with them in mind.

“Everything I do now is for them. Even if I can’t see them anymore, I want to bring them happiness.”

Since their passing, Faiz has relied heavily on the support of his close friends.

He’s grateful to have people who not only stood by him, but also taught him how to solve tough questions and motivated him to keep studying when things felt too heavy.

Looking ahead, Faiz hopes to continue his education with his sights set on entering Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG).

“If I get in, that’s a blessing,” he said. “But if I don’t, it’s okay. At least I tried. I’ll apply to other universities. No matter what, I’ll keep studying.”

To other students who may feel alone or overwhelmed, Faiz has a heartfelt message:

Don’t carry unnecessary burdens. Use your pain as motivation. I’ve been through a lot; losing my whole family, feeling the emptiness but I never let that be an excuse to give up. We all have struggles, but don’t let them define you. Keep pushing toward the finish line and always remember your goals.”

When asked what keeps him going on difficult days, Faiz simply answered: hope.

“My family’s hope is what keeps me alive,” he said.

It’s not easy, but I try. I don’t want to disappoint them even if they’ve left me behind, I still want to continue the dreams they had for me. I just hope I can stay strong enough to face this world without them.”

“You’ve made them proud”

His video and posts quickly went viral, touching thousands of Malaysians.

Many commented that they cried watching it, while others praised him for his perseverance and reminded him he’s not alone.

“You’ve made them proud and all of us too,” one person wrote.
