Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman recently revealed that he took on a surprising role as a Raya clothing model to secure much-needed funds for his constituents.
The former Youth and Sports minister shared this during a debate in the Dewan Rakyat, explaining that his unconventional decision came after repeated failed attempts to obtain government allocations.
In a video shared on his TikTok account, Syed Saddiq said, “Recently, I became a model. Some MPs were angry at me for doing it. I had no choice but to become a model, and thankfully, I managed to secure over RM1 million in donations for the Muar constituency.”

Through his collaboration with the fashion brand, the RM1 million raised will go towards various initiatives to improve the lives of his constituents.
Facing criticism
NST previously reported that Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid had criticised Syed Saddiq, suggesting he was neglecting his parliamentary duties due to his involvement with the Raya clothing brand.
During a speech in the Dewan Rakyat, Syed Saddiq expressed frustration over his repeated attempts to secure funding for the Muar Parliamentary Service Centre, which have gone unanswered.
He revealed that despite following the Prime Minister’s advice to negotiate with the Deputy Prime Minister, his efforts have yielded no results.
“I have negotiated five times, sent letter after letter. It has been over 400 days, yet the Muar Parliamentary Service Centre has received RM0 in assistance,” he said.
He called on the government to adopt a more mature political approach by ensuring fair treatment for all MPs, regardless of their political alignment.
We need mature politics so that, ultimately, whether you’re in the government or the opposition, the welfare of the people in your constituency will be safeguarded, and assistance will not be determined by political affiliation.”
