‘I Don’t Know How To Face Them’ — Dad Of Suspect In Bandar Utama Stabbing Expresses Sorrow Over Son’s Act

"No matter what I do, it will never bring back the victim."
Yesterday (Oct 14), Malaysians were shaken to the core after a 16-year-old female student was fatally stabbed by a 14-year-old male student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bandar Utama 4.

Following the incident, it has left many shocked and heartbroken, particularly the families of the victim and suspect — with one mourning over a life being lost in a brutal fashion, and the other wondering what drove the suspect to carry out such carnage.

‘I can’t bring their daughter back no matter what I do’

In a brief interview with China Press, the father of the suspect, who declined to be named, expressed his deep regret and sorrow over his son’s unspeakable act of violence.

He told the Chinese daily that he never imagined his son was capable of such brutality as he was introverted and mostly kept to himself.

“I’m aware that no apology would be enough to atone for what had happened. I know that whatever I say is meaningless now.

Showed no signs of unusual behaviour

The suspect’s dad added on the morning of the stabbing, he noted that no abnormal behaviour was observed when he sent his son to school.

He also said that while his son generally didn’t do well in his studies and paid little attention in class, he was generally not a troublemaker.

“My son had never told me about the 16-year-old female victim to me. What my son did has left me deeply heartbroken.

“He is quiet and introverted. Even if something happened at school — whether he was bullied or not — he would never tell me.”

What we know so far

After the suspect was arrested, an eyewitness came forth with further details which shed light on what could have triggered the stabbing.

According to the eyewitness, the suspect had confessed his feelings to the victim the night before the incident but was rejected.
