“I just wanted to enjoy durian season.”
These were the words of Dino, a member of Malaysian hip hop group Nico G, who suffered a stroke on the right side of his body after eating seven durians in one sitting.

According to Berita Harian, this incident happened about three weeks ago, where Dino, whose real name is Mohd Shah Rosli, recalled he had devoured the durians just a day before he collapsed.
I love durians. Whenever it’s in season, I’ll eat as much as I can. That day, I had seven kampung durians. The next morning, I woke up like this.
“Even when I talked to the doctor, my mouth still smelled like durian,” he said, adding that he believes that his smoking habit may have contributed to him suffering a stroke.
However, he’s now working to quit smoking completely.

He shared his story after receiving a visit from Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching as part of the Ziarah Seni Madani outreach programme.
He was also given cash aid and a food basket from the Ministry of Communications and FINAS.
Also present were FINAS chairman Datuk Hans Isaac, CEO Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, and SENIMAN president Zed Zaidi.
Dino, who works as a salesman at a shopping mall, is currently on medical leave. His employer had previously given him RM500, but after a month without income, Dino said he’s now relying on his savings and lives with his father and aunt.
At one point, he could barely move or speak clearly, but his condition has slowly improved.
I’m trying to stay disciplined with my medication and diet. I now take blood thinners regularly to prevent blockages.”
He also goes for follow-up treatments every two weeks at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) and seeks traditional massage therapy, which costs around RM200 per session.
