A government doctor in Melaka has publicly announced her resignation after receiving a sudden transfer order from the Ministry of Health (MOH) requiring her to report to a clinic in Sabah — a move she says has completely disrupted her life and family plans.
In a post shared on Threads, a Doctor voiced her frustration over the abrupt directive, which instructed her to report for duty at the Biluran Maternal and Child Clinic in East Sabah by October 2, 2025.
“Who’s going to care for my children?”
I’m married with children. We just bought a house and are planning to settle down. Now you just tell me to go? Who’s going to care for my children?” she wrote.
She ended her post with the hashtag #ForThePeople, a sarcastic nod to the civil service motto, expressing her disillusionment with the system.
Thank you, MOH, for making this decision. It has helped me make mine too — I’m resigning.”

Post sparks outcry among healthcare workers
The post quickly went viral, drawing waves of support — especially from fellow healthcare workers — who flooded the comments section with messages of sympathy and solidarity. Many described similar experiences, calling the transfer system “inhumane”, “rigid”, and “outdated.”
Some netizens pointed out the emotional toll and logistical burden of such transfers, especially those involving moves from Peninsular Malaysia to East Malaysia, often with no room for negotiation or consideration of family responsibilities.
Doctors are not robots. We have families and responsibilities too,” one user wrote.
“One letter, and you expect her to fly across the sea with no say? This system is too cold.”
