Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can mean the world to someone who’s struggling.
For one woman named Nareesha, what started as a simple walk turned into an unforgettable moment of compassion.
“He looked at me with teary eyes and said, ‘Pakcik lapar, mok makan. (Uncle’s hungry, I want to eat)
Nareesha shared on TikTok that she was walking past a quiet street when she noticed an elderly man sitting alone, looking down and distant.
Something about his demeanor tugged at her heart. She stopped, approached him, and softly asked if he was okay.
The man, with tears welling up in his eyes, whispered in broken Malay, “Pakcik lapar, mok makan” (Uncle is hungry, wants to eat). That simple plea shattered her heart.
In that moment, I froze. My heart dropped. I wanted to cry too,” she wrote.
When she gently asked what he wanted to eat, he replied softly: “Pakcik mok makan ayam” (Uncle wants to eat chicken).
A meal that meant everything
Without hesitation, Nareesha walked into a nearby KFC and bought him a hot meal.
The video shows her handing him the food, and as soon as he received it, the elderly man broke down crying again.
It’s like he hadn’t been treated with kindness in a long time,” she said.
“I couldn’t help but help him. It wasn’t because I had a lot to give, but because I know how that feels—to be hungry, to suffer silently and still force a smile, hoping someone will care.”
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Nareesha revealed that the encounter happened right in front of KFC Satok, just last night.
“I didn’t get the chance to really talk to him. I was holding back tears because I knew if I started crying, I wouldn’t be able to stop and that wouldn’t help him,” she said.
@nareesha i walked by this pakcik and saw him looking at me. he was giving signals, like he needed help. something in my heart moved. so i asked him what was wrong and approached him. he looked at me with teary eyes and said 'pakcik lapar, mok makan' he started crying. and in that moment, i froze. my heart dropped. i wanted to cry too. i asked him, 'ktk mok makan apa cik?' and with the softest voice, he said, 'pakcik mok makan ayam.' so w/o hesitation, i masok kfc and bought him something. and as u can see in the video, bila i bagik the food,he cried again. god knows how much i wanted to burst out. its like he hadnt been treated with kindness in a long time bah😭 i couldnt help but help him. it wasnt because i had a lot to give, but because i know how that feels. helped because i know how that feels like to be hungry, having to tebalkan muka just to ask for food. i know what its like to suffer silently and still force a smile, hoping someone will care. it really does broke my heart to see someone so desperate, asking for food not with words, but with a look of quiet pain written on his face. maybe im struggling too. maybe i dnt have much. but if i can make someone feel a little less invisible…. i will always choose kindness. for no one should ever have to beg just to eat. sometimes, a simple little thing thats all it takes to remind someone they still matter :( 😔🤍

After the video went viral, Nareesha shared that a few kind people reached out to her with more information about the pakcik’s situation.
In her heartfelt caption, Nareesha explained why this moment touched her so deeply:
“Maybe I don’t have much. But if I can make someone feel a little less invisible, I will always choose kindness. For no one should ever have to beg just to eat. Sometimes, a simple little thing—that’s all it takes to remind someone they still matter.”
