Hong Kong’s traffic is notorious for being congested, but as Malaysians, we are no strangers to traffic jams, particularly in cities like KL or Penang.

However, not everyone finds the issue of traffic jams to be a dealbreaker for them, like these Hong Kong YouTubers who had a surprising comment about driving conditions in Penang.

When they first landed in Malaysia, the couple admitted that it wasn’t exactly a positive one, saying that they found the country to be “outdated”.

However, as the days went by, their fondness for Malaysia grew and they soon came to appreciate how affordable the cost of living was here compared to Hong Kong.

“Renting a 600-square-foot house in Hong Kong costs HKD 18,500 (about RM10,395). But in Penang, renting a 4,800-square-foot house only costs around RM2,000 – RM4,000. For our unit, which is considered to be high end, comes with 3 parking lots,” said Raymond.

Aside from the affordable housing costs, the couple also praised Penang for its parking fees, which usually costs RM2 per hour and added that they found its driving in the state to be “less stressful” compared to Hong Kong.

Driving in Hong Kong is a luxury but in Penang, it’s a necessity. Come experience Malaysia for yourself, don’t listen to others.
