HK Man Allegedly Slips & Falls To His Death While Trying To Save Pet Cat

Oh no.
A man in Hong Kong had his life end in tragedy while he was on a rescue mission to save his pet cat on the second day of Chinese New Year (Feb 18).

South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that police were later alerted of the incident by a security guard who found the man lying in a flower bed outside one of the blocks.

Plunged from high-rise

According to local news outlet HK01, it reported that the wife of the 63-year-old victim was showering when she suddenly heard a loud crashing sound.

Neighbours were also startled by the noise and quickly went to check, where they found that the victim’s pet cat was stuck on a ledge.

When security guards arrived at the scene, they discovered the victim lying on a flower bed, leading them to believe that he had fallen to his death while trying to save the cat.

Firefighters and Hong Kong’s Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) staff were later called to come save the cat, with a clip showing one rescuer trying his best to coax the feline into a container as it stood dangerously on the ledge.

Thankfully, rescuers managed to save the cat and returned it to the victim’s family.

Cause of death to be determined

As for the victim, he was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital in Yau Ma Tei but was pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigations found that he might have slipped and fell from the high-rise building in the midst of attempting to save the cat.

Damaged trees in the planter and bloodstains on the adjacent pavement where the body was discovered were also detected by police.
