A 50-year-old unemployed man was fined RM13,000 after pleading guilty at two separate Magistrates’ Courts today for intentionally damaging a Perodua Axia and driving recklessly.
The incident, which took place at 3.10pm on June 22 at Susur 6, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Johor Bahru, went viral after dashcam footage showed a Toyota Hilux reversing aggressively into the Axia multiple times.
The victim, a 63-year-old man, later filed a police report and suffered an estimated RM15,300 in damages.

Slapped with 2 charges
According to Harian Metro, the accused, Muhammad Firdaus Abdullah, was charged for mischief causing damage before Magistrate Atifah Hazimah under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries maximum prison sentence of five years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

As for the second charge read before Magistrate Nur Fatin, he was accused of driving carelessly under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which provides a fine of up to RM10,000 and a maximum jail term of 12 months, along with mandatory endorsement of his driving licence.
Muhammad Firdaus pleaded guilty to both charges.
‘I regret my actions’
In court, Muhammad Firdaus, who is unemployed, broke down in tears and pleaded for a lighter sentence, saying that he needed to care for his wife and seven children.

He also expressed regret for his actions and promised not to do it again.
Deputy public prosecutors Nik Noratini Nik Azman and Amirah Tasnim Saleh urged the court to mete out an appropriate sentence in light of the losses incurred and the level of public interest the case had garnered.
The court eventually fined Muhammad Firdaus RM7,500 or 12 months in jail for the mischief charge.
As for the reckless driving charge, he was fined RM5,500 or six months in jail. His driving licence was also endorsed by the court.
