Published in collaboration with global data firm Statista, the list aims to guide patients through one of life’s most stressful decisions: choosing a hospital.

This year’s ranking spans 30 countries, selected based on factors such as standard of living, life expectancy, population size, and available healthcare data.

How are these rankings determined?
According to Newsweek, the evaluation process involves a mix of expert opinion and real-world outcomes. This includes:
- Online surveys from over 85,000 medical professionals, including doctors, hospital managers, and healthcare workers
- Patient experience scores, covering aspects like communication, comfort, and overall satisfaction
- Hospital quality metrics, such as safety standards and treatment outcomes
- A PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) Implementation Survey, where patients assess their recovery and how care affected their quality of life
Altogether, more than 2,400 hospitals were analysed globally, but only 250 made it to the overall top tier.
Among these international leaders are renowned names such as Mayo Clinic – Rochester, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, Toronto General Hospital, and Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset in Sweden.
