M’sian Man Rows Sampan Through Flood To Help Sister Submit Her Assignment
This is one such story—a tale of a sister, her studies, and her brother’s selfless act that left the internet in awe.
Syahirah, a student from Kampung Pulau Besar, Kelantan, faced an overwhelming obstacle when floods submerged her village.
With no internet access at home and a university assignment deadline looming, she had to find a way out.
But the real hero of this journey? Her younger brother, who didn’t think twice before grabbing a sampan to help his sister paddle through the floodwaters.
“My brother is so understanding. He really put in the effort to row the boat (paddle the sampan) 👍,” Syahirah shared in her now-viral TikTok post.

Their journey was far from easy. As if navigating floodwaters wasn’t challenging enough, a fallen electricity pole blocked their path, forcing them to take a longer route.
But the duo pressed on, determined to find a place where Syahirah could complete her work.
Once they reached a flood-free area, the siblings switched to a motorcycle before getting into a car to make their way to Kota Bharu.
After hours of searching, they found an open café where Syahirah finally managed to finish her assignment.
“After several hours and finishing everything (the assignment), I headed home. To return, I had to take the boat (sampan) again. Thank you, my brother. Please pray for us and for the floodwaters to recede quickly,” she wrote in her caption.
