In a TikTok post that has since gone viral, @syafiqje94 shared how he managed to purchase his dream car, a Honda Civic Type R, despite the challenges of being a lorry driver.
For years, he spent long hours on the road delivering goods between Penang and Johor, often coming across the car that he admired from afar.
“Every time I drove by, I would see this car. It looked big, bold, and powerful, and I couldn’t help but wonder if a lorry driver like me could ever own something like that,” Syafiq said, reminiscing about his frequent encounters with the sleek vehicle.
After years of driving back and forth across the country, Syafiq finally decided to turn his admiration into action.
‘If it gets approved, great. If not, I’ll move on‘
On March 4, 2023, he contacted a friend in the car sales business. With a realistic mindset, he submitted his bank statements and started the loan application process, knowing it could go either way.
“I thought, why not? If it gets approved, great. If not, I’ll move on,” Syafiq recalled.
To his surprise, Syafiq’s loan was approved on August 21. However, the approval came with mixed emotions—excitement tinged with anxiety about the financial responsibility of owning such an expensive car.
“I was thrilled but also nervous. I had my dream car, but now I had to make sure I could keep up with the payments,” Syafiq explained.

By September, the car was ready for pickup. Unable to collect it from the dealership due to his work, the car was delivered to him at a rest stop while he was on the road. The moment was surreal for Syafiq, as his long-held dream became a reality.
“I couldn’t believe it—I had finally bought the car I’d been dreaming about for so long.
It’s hard to believe that a lorry driver like me could afford something like this,” Syafiq shared, reflecting on the journey.
One year later, Syafiq is still enjoying his Honda Civic Type R, though he jokes that it might be time for another upgrade soon.
