Gov’t U-Turns, Announces 50% Discount On Tolls During Chinese New Year

Pusing again.
The Malaysian government has approved a 50% toll discount for Chinese New Year 2025. The announcement, made after a Cabinet meeting today, is part of the MADANI administration’s commitment to unity and public welfare.

The toll discount will cost the government an estimated RM20.08 million in compensation to toll concessionaires.

This initiative continues the festive toll assistance program introduced in 2023, which has so far cost the government RM356.18 million for free tolls during major festivals up until 2024.

The 50% toll discount will be implemented from 12.01 am on January 27, 2025 (Monday), until 11.59 pm on January 28, 2025 (Tuesday).

The discount applies to Class 1 private vehicles across all toll plazas except at border plazas, specifically Sultan Iskandar Building Toll Plaza (BSI) on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link (LINKEDUA).
