Prominent lawyer and ex-Federal Court judge Tan Sri Gopal Sri Ram has passed away today at the age of 79.
He is survived by his wife Chandra Sri Ram, and two children.

An aide to Sri Ram told FMT that he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in KL for a lung infection on Jan 15.
Prosecuted huge cases
Sri Ram is best known for being the lead prosecutor in the 1MDB trial, which saw former prime minister Najib Razak going to jail for 12 years for corruption.
He was also the lead prosecutor for the RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project involving Najib’s wife Rosmah Mansor, who was found guilty on three counts of corruption.

However, Rosmah filed an appeal against her 10-year jail sentence and RM970 million fine, where it’s waiting to be heard in the Court of Appeal.
Sri Ram also represented current prime minister Anwar Ibrahim during his final appeal over allegations of sodomising his former aide Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
Our condolences to the family of Tan Sri Gopal Sri Ram for their loss.
