Gong Cha Reportedly Shuts Down Outlets Across Singapore

Even on GrabFood, Gong Cha outlets were all showed as “closed.”
Popular bubble tea chain Gong Cha seems to have shut down several outlets in Singapore, with multiple locations found closed and their online presence wiped out.

According to checks by Mothership, some Gong Cha outlets, including those at Nex and Eunos, were found closed.

At Nex, the outlet was empty with its lights turned off around 9pm.

A sign placed at the counter read “Closed for maintenance today”, even though Google listed the outlet’s operating hours until 10pm.

The Eunos Crescent outlet was also closed at the same time, with boxes stacked up inside the shop despite its official closing time being listed as 10pm.

Social media & website taken down

The bubble tea brand’s website and social media accounts have also been cleared out, raising further questions about its operations.

Gong Cha first entered the Singapore market in 2009, before exiting briefly in 2016 and returning in December 2017 with a store at SingPost Centre.

In recent months, social media users have posted reviews and photos noting that several Gong Cha outlets had quietly closed.

A search on the GrabFood app at around 8.40pm on Oct 1 showed that more than 10 Gong Cha outlets were listed as closed.

Mothership also attempted to contact the Tiong Bahru outlet, but the phone number appeared to be disconnected and they’ve reached out to Gong Cha for comment regarding the closures.
