A man allegedly tried to rob a money changer by handing over a handwritten note demanding cash in multiple currencies, including Malaysian ringgit, as reported by The Straits Times (ST).
Police said the incident happened on the afternoon of April 11, when officers were alerted to an attempted robbery at around 4.20pm.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect showed the victim a note which read: “Quiet! Give me all SGD + MYR + USD. Do not move!”

However, the attempt did not succeed as the victim refused to comply, causing the man to flee the scene. No injuries or financial losses were reported.
The suspect was arrested within eight hours of the report and is expected to be charged today (Apr 13).
If convicted of attempted robbery, he faces between two and seven years in jail, along with a minimum of six strokes of the cane.
Police also advised the public to remain calm in such situations, observe the suspect’s appearance, and contact authorities as soon as possible.
