Office politics can be scary, but not as scary as what staff in Putrajaya say they experienced: a ghost roaming the corridors.
The incident, which reportedly took place at the Public Service Department (JPA) in Kompleks C, Presint 1, was shared on TikTok and quickly went viral, leaving many Malaysians spooked and others skeptical.
The emergency exit sign that wouldn’t stop swinging
It all started with a video uploaded by @alamjinggamalaya on TikTok. In the clip, an emergency exit sign can be seen swinging back and forth on its own inside the office corridor.
Things didn’t stop there. A staff member was also spotted sprinkling water around the area, believed to be part of an Islamic cleansing ritual.
According to claims, the office even played Quranic verses through its speakers and eventually sought help from a traditional healer to stop the disturbance.
A ‘pontianak’ in the office?
But what really sent chills down netizens’ spines wasn’t just the swinging sign, it was the photos that followed.
One allegedly showed the figure in full form: long black hair, dressed in white cloth, standing still behind a glass panel while staring blankly ahead.

Another image captured a man in a dimly lit hallway holding what looked like a broomstick, seemingly carrying out a cleansing ritual.
To add fuel to the fear, another viral video showed two office windows glowing faintly, as if lit with candles or torches.

Netizens share their own office horror stories
With the videos making rounds online, netizens quickly filled the comments section with their own spooky tales.
One shared how their mother, a former staff member, often joked about the presence of two “ghosts” named Melur and Melati.
Another recounted how a colleague once felt a tap on the shoulder but saw no one there.
There were even stories of greeting someone in the lift, only to later discover that person was actually on leave.
Still, not everyone was convinced. Some dismissed the whole thing as nothing more than edited photos and exaggerated storytelling.
One thing’s for sure: the thought of a ghost haunting a government office in Putrajaya is enough to make anyone think twice about staying back late at work.
