Love it or hate it, Labubu dolls still remain as a craze as many are drawn to the plushies’ adorable and unique design. But how should one draw the line when their partner’s love for it is too much?
This was the dilemma a man faced after he came to the horrifying realisation that he may have contributed to her insatiable appetite for Labubu dolls and is at a loss over what to do next.
‘No money for anything else but Labubu dolls’
In an anonymous posting, the man wrote that he noticed his girlfriend had taken a liking for Labubu dolls. Despite knowing that the plushies weren’t cheap, he bought her some with his own money.
As days passed however, the man’s girlfriend became more obsessed with the Labubu dolls, so much so that she would spend hundreds of Ringgit buying blind boxes.
“One or two isn’t enough—now it has to be whole sets. If we can’t find them in Malaysia, she’ll buy them online, or ask others to help her buy. And these things aren’t cheap to begin with—getting someone else to buy them makes it even more expensive.”
Aside from the amount of money spent on the plushies, the man also had another bone to pick with his GF.
“I really don’t understand. She spends hundreds (of Ringgit) every month on these things and then tells me she’s broke. Every day she complains that her bag is heavy. Of course it’s heavy when you hang so much stuff on it!” he ranted.
‘Leave her!’
In the comment section, netizens had a simple solution for the man’s situation: call it quits on his relationship with his GF.
‘Just change your GF and your problem will be solved. What’s there to worry about?’
‘Brother, there are plenty of girls out there who know how to spend money wisely.’
One asked the man what he hoped to accomplish with the post, writing: ‘Why aren’t you telling these things to your GF? Are you ranting to us (the public) so that we can scalp her by selling her Pop Mart figurines?’
