Abd Aziz Usoff, Rawang Fire and Rescue Department station head who has been working tirelessly since the search and rescue operation started immediately after the Batang Kali landslide tragedy on December 16, died of a heart attack on Wednesday.
Datuk Norazam Khamis, director of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, said Abd Aziz died at the age of 49 at approximately 7.55 a.m.
“”In fact, Allahyarham was also one of the first to arrive at the scene to assist the operation even though the tragedy that occurred was not in his control area.”
“He has served in the JBPM squad for 15 years, and is a very dedicated, responsible and committed employee of the task, especially when carrying out bombing operations. The departure of a deceased soul is a loss that is difficult to replace,” said when contacted Berita Harian.
According to Norazam, Abd Aziz’s body was taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem before being taken to Masjid Jamek Nurul Iman in Rawang.
“He was buried on Wednesday night at 9.30 p.m. in the Masjid Al-Ittihad Muslim Cemetery in Sungai Kob, Karangan, Kulim, Kedah.
“Abd Aziz, who was born in Kampung Banggol Penyegat, Karangan, leaves behind his wife, Siti Mardhiah Nayan@Ahmad, and four boys,” he added.
