This morning, we reported of the brutal murder of 31-year-old Daniel Lee Boon Han, whose body was found stuffed inside a suitcase which was dumped behind the Ampang Jaya Flats in Butterworth, Penang.
Not long after news of his death went public, friends and family have greatly mourned over his demise and recounted their fondest memories of him.
Was described as a “kind”, “easygoing”
One of them was Li Zixiong (transliteration), the deputy of the Lee Clan Association’s youth division, who spoke to China Press about his interactions with Daniel.
According to him, Daniel was a “friendly and easygoing” person who had no record of having beef or being enemies with anyone.

Daniel was a very polite, sincere, and well-liked person with many friends. He never offended anyone, so I really can’t understand why he would suffer such a cruel fate and be murdered so brutally.
“He was also a very responsible individual in his work and always made sure to follow things through.
“I was extremely shocked, heartbroken, and saddened when I heard the news of his death,” he said.
Last met Daniel at Mid-Autumn festival event
Li added the last time he met Daniel was last Friday (Oct 3) where they both attended the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration organised by association’s youth division.
He added he didn’t get to talk much with Daniel as both of them were busy carrying out their respective tasks for the event.
“Just two days before the event, Daniel gave me a box of mooncakes to wish me a happy Mid-Autumn Festival. My family and I haven’t eaten them yet.

“I never thought the event would be the last time I’d see him again,” he noted sadly, adding that he hopes police will catch the killer soon.
What happened so far
Daniel, who was reported missing on Tuesday, was found stuffed into a suitcase by a drain cleaner who was at work.
Police found a slash wound to his neck and observed that both of his hands were tied and a plastic bag was placed over his head.

They are also working to find out whether Daniel was killed elsewhere before being placed in the suitcase and dumped at the location.
The case is now being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
