Cheng Jia Yung, a 17-year-old entrepreneur, posted a Tweet earlier this month about his sale of six fighting fishes to former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir and the heartwarming message conveyed by him.
The tweet has since garnered more than 6,000 retweets and the video was viewed more than 87,000 times.
On August 14, Chen shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp conversation with an assistant from Dr. Mahathir’s office, who told him that he wished to purchase six fighting fishes.
At first, he brushed it off as a joke, but later came to realise it wasn’t the case when the assistant gave him the address.
Upon receiving the address, Chen remained in a daze, causing Dr. Mahathir’s assistant to jokingly say, “I already told you, right?”
Ten days later, Chen posted a video of Dr. Mahathir reading a personal letter and talking about his fighting fishes.
Thank you for successfully breeding these ‘ikan lawan’ (fighting fish). I believe this will grow into a big business and I hope you will be successful in this business venture,” said the former premier.
According to Cheng, Dr. Mahathir bought six plakat betta fishes and also shared his contact information for those interested in buying one.
