A Myanmar woman and her three children were rescued from a chilly demise after firefighters rushed to the scene upon being alerted of all of them allegedly jumping into Sungai Bunus to end their lives.
In a Facebook post by the Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue Station (BPP), they wrote the incident took place between 9.44am and 11.20am last Sunday (May 25).

A clip was also included in the post, where it showed the woman standing along the edge of the river with her young children, where one of them could be heard crying loudly.

According to firefighters at the scene, the woman became aggressive and attempted to hurt her child when they tried to approach her.
Thankfully, the firefighters eventually were able to rescue the woman and her children before handing them over to Ministry of Health (MOH) officials for further action.

Emotional distress believed to be cause
A Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) spokesperson later told MYNEWSHUB that the woman had jumped into the river due to “overwhelming emotional strain”. As a result of the suicide attempt, her children were deeply traumitised.
Aside from firefighters and MOH officials, personnel from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) were also present to provide psychological assistance and welfare support to the family.
Mental health is not a trivial issue. Early intervention and emotional support are crucial in preventing such tragedies.
“The public is urged to be more aware of those around them, especially individuals facing life pressures and to offer appropriate assistance to help save lives,” said a JKM representative.
