A verbal altercation over dishes that weren’t up to par with a customer’s standards turned deadly after a female cook was fatally stabbed in the process.
According to NST, the incident took place at a Thai-style restaurant in Lorong Bukit Juru in Seberang Perai, Penang yesterday night (Nov 16).
Attacked over ‘not tasty’ food
The English daily reported that in the 9pm incident, the suspect, a Myanmar national, and several friends arrived at the restaurant around 8.30pm while apparently intoxicated.
The group then complained about the food being unpalatable and this sparked an argument between them, the victim, who was a Myanmar woman in her 40s, and her husband.

When the victim ordered the men to leave, one of them allegedly contacted his brother before heading back to the restaurant and stabbing the victim.
She didn’t survive the attack and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, a friend of the suspect, and the victim’s husband were also stabbed.
Arrests made
The suspect and his brother were later arrested by police not far from the restaurant. The victim’s body was sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem while the injured men were treated there as well.

Penang Police Chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed the incident and added that the suspect was believed to be in a state of intoxication.
Police are probing the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
