A shocking discovery has revealed that a syndicate of foreign beggars has been operating around Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, and Klang, Selangor.
The group is allegedly exploiting children and earning as much as RM3,000 daily.
The syndicate was uncovered during a recent operation, Op Pintas Khas, conducted by the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Division, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Bukit Aman.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong, the Deputy Director of the D3 Bukit Aman division, stated that eight suspects, all Yemeni nationals, were arrested during the operation, which began at 10pm.

Exploiting children for profit
According to Harian Metro, authorities rescued seven children during the raid, all victims of forced labour exploitation.
The rescued children, also Yemeni nationals, include six boys aged between one month and 16 years old, and a five-year-old girl.
The suspects are believed to be part of a criminal group that exploits children for begging. They have allegedly been active since September 2024,” said Soffian in a statement.
Investigations revealed that the syndicate operates in groups, beginning their activities at 6pm and continuing until 3am. It is estimated that their daily profits range from RM2,500 to RM3,000.
The rescued children were placed under the care of authorities in accordance with Section 44(1) of the Atipsom Act 2007.
Meanwhile, the eight suspects, comprising six men and two women aged between 21 and 30 years old, are being investigated under Section 14 of the Atipsom Act 2007.
