A massive fire broke out at Jeti Achok Lorong 11 in Sekinchan on Tuesday morning (Mar 25), destroying two jetties and a house.
The blaze, reported at 8.57am, rapidly spread through wooden fishing businesses, exacerbated by low tide conditions that left docked boats immobile. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control by 10am.
Videos of the fire went viral on Facebook, showing the devastating blaze destroying buildings and boats.
7-8 fishing businesses engulfed in flames
According to China Press, at least seven to eight fishing businesses at Bagan Sekinchan port were engulfed in flames.
Nearby fishermen attempted to save their boats by spraying seawater to prevent the fire from spreading.
Despite their efforts, one boat was severely damaged while another was rescued in time.

Affected structures suffered 80% damage
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, quoted by The Star, estimated that the affected structures suffered 80% fire damage.
The fire destroyed two jetties, a house, a van that was 90% burned, and a car that sustained partial damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Fire engines with 17 personnel from the Sekinchan, Tanjong Karang, and Sungai Besar fire stations arrived at the scene at 9.02am.
The fire affected a row of squatter jetties and a house, spanning 40 by 400 square meters, along with a B-class residential structure measuring 60 by 50 square meters.
