In 2010, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) launched the female-only coaches for its commuter rail service, where it was aimed to ensure the comfort and safety of female passengers.
This year however, this arrangement will take a slightly different turn in conjunction with the upcoming Thaipusam celebrations that’s slated to take place next week.

No enforcement of female-only coaches for Thaipusam
In an announcement made by KTMB on its official Facebook page, it wrote that slight changes will be made to its KTM Komuter female-only coaches.
“To ensure passenger comfort of all passengers during the 2025 Thaipusam celebration, the enforcement of the women coach will not be implemented for KTM Komuter services in the Klang Valley from Feb 9 to Feb 12.”
Aside from this change, passengers can also look forward to enjoying free Komuter rides on Feb 10 and 11. Additional train services will also be provided from Feb 9 to 12.
The Pelabuhan Klang – Tanjung Malim – Pelabuhan Klang route will also run on a full schedule so that passengers can have a seamless journey during Thaipusam.
