An attempted robbery at a convenience store in Kampung Padang Balang, Jalan Gombak, was recently caught on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media.
It’s all thanks to one fearless shop owner who wasn’t going down without a fight.
Came in like customers, but with a stun gun

According to a now-viral clip shared by X user @update11111, the incident began when two men wearing helmets casually entered the store, pretending to be regular customers.
But within seconds, things took a dangerous turn. One of the men walked up to the counter and suddenly attacked a man, believed to be the shop owner, using a stun gun.

Owner fought back with parang

However, the owner wasn’t about to give in that easily.
In a split-second reaction, he pulled out a parang (machete) from behind the counter to defend himself, instantly flipping the power dynamic in the shop.
What followed was a tense standoff as both sides appeared ready to escalate the confrontation. The situation grew more intense as neither party backed down, turning the quiet store into a mini war zone.
Robbers flee empty-handed
Eventually, the robbers realised they were in over their heads. Faced with the owner’s fierce resistance, the two men abandoned their mission and quickly fled the scene on a motorcycle.
While the owner managed to protect both himself and the store, the entire ordeal left netizens in shock and admiration.
At the time of writing, it remains unclear exactly when the incident took place. A quick check found that no official statement has been released by authorities regarding the case.
Netizens react: “This uncle not playing!”
Online, many praised the shop owner’s courage and determination, with some even suggesting that more stores be similarly prepared.
“Every store should have a machete on standby too.”
