Last week, we reported of an elderly woman who was killed in a road accident after she got run over by a car while crossing the road in Sentul on Jan 11.
10 days after the tragedy, the family is still waiting for the police to update them on the case’s progress and also demanded that the car driver to appear and give an explanation.
No clear updates from police
According to media reports, the victim, Lim Mui Choo, suffered a fractured skull and vomitted blood before dying at the scene.

Speaking at a press conference organised by Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng, Lim’s daughter Zhang Xiuhui (transliteration) said her mother would often walk to the market to buy groceries five days a week and was always very careful on the road.
She added that while dashcam footage of the incident had already been handed over to the police for investigation, there has been no updates thus far.
“As of now, we have not received a clear explanation or updates about the investigation and we’re still not sure whether the driver has been arrested or not.

“My son went to the police station last Friday (Jan 16) to give a statement and was only told that police are still probing the incident.
“We hope the police will conduct a swift and transparent investigation and give my mother justice. As for the driver, he has yet to come forward and give his side of the story,” she said.
Case handed over to Attorney General
Meanwhile, Lim’s assistant, Lai Chun Chian, said police are investigating the case under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death, not as a hit-and-run incident.

“We contacted the police last Thursday (Jan 15) to inquire about the case and we were informed police had submitted the investigation report to the Attorney General’s Chambers and are awaiting further instructions.
“We also call upon the driver involved to come forward voluntarily so that the victim’s family can understand what happened. He may contact us for further arrangements.”
