According to Kosmo!, the family was on their way back to Bayan Lepas after having sahur in downtown George Town when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Station Chief A’Azelan Hassan said they received a distress call at 1.46am, prompting an immediate response from the station, with additional support from the Bayan Baru Fire and Rescue Station.
Firefighters to the rescue
Upon arrival, rescue teams found an adult victim trapped in the vehicle, while the four children, whose identities were not immediately confirmed, sustained minor injuries.
Using specialized rescue equipment, firefighters managed to free all the victims by 2.54 AM.
All the victims were later handed over to the Ministry of Health (KKM) and taken to Penang Hospital for further treatment,” A’Azelan said.
The authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the accident, and investigations are ongoing.
