Speaking to WeirdKaya, Harjit shared the grim reality of his situation. His restaurant, located in the heart of Jalan Melayu, was once a beloved spot known for its delicious sweets and food.

However, since the tragedy unfolded, Harjit told us that his loyal customers who stop by everyday were nowhere to be seen ever since the tragedy.

Later on, we stopped by a retail store, which used to be flooded with customers, now empty, with the workers sitting and talking while listening to songs in the radio.

There’s nothing we can do. People are scared. I just hope the lady is found and things return to normal, but it’s clear that businesses in Masjid India won’t recover anytime soon.”

Rani also added that she wishes the previous sinkholes had been taken seriously, as this tragedy might have been prevented, and their businesses wouldn’t be left struggling like they are now.

There’s still hope in them

Both Harjit and Rani told us they are hopeful that the authorities will resolve this tragedy one way or another and help restore netizens’ trust in the safety of Masjid India.
