Drivers are supposed to keep their eyes on the road and both hands on the steering wheel whenever they’re behind the wheel. Unfortunately, not all follow these safety rules.
A woman recently took to social media to call out an e-hailing driver for being distracted by his phone while he was fetching her to her destination.
Watched videos while driving
In a Threads post by @maryamnabilaa_, she posted a clip showing the e-hailing driver taking quick glances at his handphone before snapping his eyes back onto the road.
This goes on for several times throughout the clip.
In the caption, she tagged the e-hailing company and wrote:
“Could you please reprimand this driver of yours for driving while watching videos? I’ve had many drivers who did the same, but at least they were watching it from their dashboard.
“The uncle in this video was actually holding another phone in his hand while driving. No wonder I had to wait six minutes for him to arrive instead of four.
“Although the road was empty, he drove very slowly because obviously he wasn’t focused at all.”
The OP also alleged that the driver was aware that she was recording him but continued doing what he did.

In a brief conversation with WeirdKaya, the OP said the incident occurred while she was on her way to work.
She added that initially she didn’t notice that the driver was distracted, but when she noticed that he was driving slower than usual, she glanced over and saw what happened.
“I then took out my phone and began recording as proof before filing a report,” she added.
When asked whether she confronted the driver before recording him, the OP said she didn’t do so as she was afraid he would get upset and ditch her at the roadside.
She added that she has since filed a report with the e-hailing company and the Road Transport Department (JPJ), where the former had informed her that investigations are ongoing.
