A silver sedan was spotted driving on its own along the Jakarta–Cikampek toll highway in Indonesia, with no one appearing to control the vehicle.
Fortunately, a quick-thinking truck driver noticed something was wrong and followed closely behind to prevent a serious accident.
Try honking to alert the driver inside
In a video uploaded on TikTok, the sedan is seen moving slowly in the right lane of the highway.
A white truck trails beside it, repeatedly honking in an attempt to alert the driver inside. However, no one was seen holding the steering wheel as the car continued rolling forward.
According to the post, the car only came to a stop at the Tambun toll exit at kilometre 21, where it was eventually blocked by traffic cones.
A local resident familiar with the incident claimed that the driver may have suffered a heart attack while driving.
Netizen praise truck driver
The video quickly went viral online, with many netizens praising the truck driver for staying alert and effectively escorting the vehicle to avoid a larger tragedy.
Indonesian media outlet Kompas later reported that the Indonesian Traffic Police’s Director of Law Enforcement, Faizal, confirmed the driver likely experienced a sudden medical emergency while driving.
He explained that the vehicle, travelling from Jakarta towards Cikampek, had briefly stopped in the fourth lane before continuing to move again, only stopping after hitting traffic cones at the toll exit.
When paramedics and toll staff arrived at the scene, they checked the driver and confirmed that he had already passed away.
No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the incident.
