A peaceful morning at a coffee shop in Sungai Petani turned into tragedy after a car suddenly rammed into the premises, killing a woman and injuring four others.
According to Sin Chew Daily and China Press, the incident happened around 9.30am today (Apr 28) at a coffee shop opposite UTC Pasar Awam Sungai Petani.
Media reports suggest that a woman in her 60s, who was driving a Perodua Alza, reportedly suffered a heart attack or mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to suddenly surge forward into the coffee shop.

A 55-year-old woman surnamed Han was having breakfast when the car ploughed into the shop. She was killed instantly as she was seated closest to the point of impact.
Meanwhile, four other customers who were also dining at the time sustained injuries of varying severity and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
As of 11.30am, local police have not issued an official statement, saying investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash.
According to relatives, Han was described as a filial daughter who took care of her elderly mother daily. Every morning, she would first send her mother to a nursing home before stopping by the coffee shop to enjoy breakfast.
Friends also described her as a cheerful individual who often sported a tomboyish vibe and would head to work after finishing her meal.
