Customers and staff at a petrol station in Johor Bahru (JB) were left fearing for their safety after the driver of a Singaporean-registered car took off without removing the fuel nozzle.
As a result, the fuel pump was forcefully pulled to one side, sparking fears that an explosion might occur due to leaked petrol.

In a series of videos and photos shared by a netizen to a Facebook group, it showed two staff members making their way towards the damaged fuel pump, while a young man is seen emerging from the Singapore-registered car.

According to the OP, the incident took place at around 10:15pm last Saturday (Oct 18) at the petrol station located at Skudai Highway.
She added her parents were in the midst of refuelling when they suddenly heard a loud noise which was caused by the Singapore-registered car driving off with the fuel nozzle still attached.

Following the accident, customers were afraid that the petrol pump might explode and go up in flames. The petrol station was also forced to stop operations.
However, it’s not known what kind of fuel the Singapore-registered car driver had used.
Now under police investigation
A staff at the petrol station later told Shin Min Daily News reported that the the driver of the Singapore-registered car apologised profusely and went to the police station with staff to lodge a report.

Johor Baru (North) police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh later confirmed receiving a report, saying the 36-year-old driver is now being probed under  Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59) for failing to control a vehicle.
If found guilty, he faces a fine of RM300, reported NST.
