Time and time again, we have seen drivers of Singapore-registered cars pumping subsidised RON95 petrol despite clear laws forbidding it being put in place.
While most would just keep silent and hope the issue would die down on its own, one driver decided to snap back at critics after he was caught using RON95.
Incident took place in Johor
According to a Facebook post shared by SGRV FRONT MAN on Feb 1, it showed a man refuelling his Honda multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) with RON95 petrol.

According to the caption, the incident reportedly took place at a petrol station in Eko Botani in Iskandar Puteri, Johor on Jan 26.
The caption also stated that RON95 is strictly reserved for Malaysians only and that foreign-registered cars must use either RON97 or RON100 fuel only.
‘You mad, bro?’
Needless to say, the photo caused an uproar among Malaysian netizens, who were sick and tired of seeing the same old act being done in broad daylight.

Instead of keeping a low profile over the matter, the driver of the Singapore-registered MPV felt the need to break the silence and respond to critics.
In a screenshot which was captured by a netizen before it was deleted, the driver wrote: “Hello, I’m the owner of the car. That’s me, so what’s the problem? I pump (RON95) legally and no one said it’s illegal to buy. I will continue until April. Continue posting, I don’t care.”

When a netizen suggested that one call the police if such incidents were to reoccur, the driver retorted: “That’s my own problem. Are you unhappy with it?”
He also reiterated that he had done nothing wrong, leading many to wonder where he was getting all the hubris from.

Recently, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) announced that starting April 1, drivers of foreign-registered vehicles who are caught using RON95 petrol will face legal action.
Currently, the law only punishes petrol station operators that provide RON95 petrol. However, the most recent case of such drivers being penalised took place last month in a highly-publicised case:
