A late-night crash in Mount Austin, Johor Bahru has sparked shock and outrage after a male driver, believed to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, ploughed his car into a restaurant, allegedly injuring two children and severely wounding a pet kitten.
According to China Press, the incident reportedly occurred around 11.55pm along Jalan Nanyang in Taman Mount Austin.
Videos and photos circulating online show a white sedan ramming directly into the front of a restaurant, smashing through the five-foot walkway before abruptly reversing and filling the area with thick white smoke.

Kitten found alive but critically wounded
Although no children were visible in the viral footage, social media users claimed the injured had already been taken to the hospital before recordings began.
One of the most distressing details captured in the video was a small kitten, believed to be a pet belonging to the shop operators.
Despite being able to move, the kitten suffered catastrophic injuries — its internal organs were visibly exposed after being struck.

Many netizens expressed heartbreak and anger over the condition of the animal, calling the scene “unbearable.”
Driver appeared disoriented, netizens claim
Photos shared online also purportedly show the driver, described as a Chinese man, looking dazed and unstable at the scene.
Several commenters alleged that he appeared intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, claiming his behaviour was “not normal” after the crash.
Some netizens also questioned how the driver ended up crashing into the shop, pointing out that the car did not appear to be travelling at a high speed.
Dashcam footage reveals possible traffic violation
Another angle of the incident was later shared through dashcam footage. The white sedan can be seen making a left turn into a one-way street, a move that is already a traffic offence.
Moments later, the vehicle continued moving toward the restaurant before suddenly veering forward and slamming into the premises.
Witnesses said they heard a loud “bang” before seeing the car lodged in front of the shop. The driver then quickly reversed, causing smoke to billow heavily from the engine area.
Residents familiar with the area noted that the entire stretch of Jalan Nanyang consists of single-lane, one-way roads, and the driver’s left turn was clearly against traffic flow.
