It’s one thing to feel distant from your parents. It’s another to be told in plain words that your existence is too much to bear.
That’s what one Malaysian girl claims she experienced after her father remarried and allegedly began cutting her out of his life.
In a series of emotional posts shared on Threads, she opened up about how her once-stable relationship with her father took a devastating turn, all beginning with one text.
‘Don’t ask for money or anything’
At the time, she was preparing to sit for an important exam at 2PM. But just one hour before, her phone lit up with a message that left her stunned.
It was from her father, telling her not to contact him anymore. The timing couldn’t have been more crushing, and the contents, even more so.
He told her he had previously blocked her number and now only unblocked her temporarily because he was at work. He described her messages as a burden, saying he had more important responsibilities and other children to care for.
“This is your dad. Don’t message me anymore… I only unblocked you because I’m at work. Don’t ask for money or anything… I never gave you anything even when you asked. I have many other responsibilities. Please ease my burden. There are many other children who need me, not just you. Please understand.”

‘…and you keep texting’
As if the rejection wasn’t already painful enough, the girl claimed she received another message soon after. This time, it appeared to come from her stepmother, using her father’s phone.
The tone of the message was even more aggressive and laced with insults. Her stepmother allegedly lashed out, telling her off for messaging and mocking her.
Shut up, you pig. My husband wants to sleep and you keep texting. I’m blocking you. Serves you right, idiot!”

‘Don’t fight with my wife’
Past messages from her father also showed a pattern of prioritising his new wife over his daughter. In one text, he firmly warned her not to argue with his wife and insisted she show respect, no matter the situation.
Don’t fight with my wife. No matter what happens, I’ll always back her… She is my lawful wife. Don’t be disobedient or rude. Yesterday she said you were rude to her. Please respect her… No matter what, respect her. What’s the point of studying hard if you don’t even know how to respect people?”

For the girl, these words confirmed what she had feared. She had already been emotionally replaced.
In wrapping up her post, the girl made it clear that what she shared wasn’t exaggerated or fictional. This was her lived reality, and the screenshots were proof of the emotional turmoil she had been silently enduring.
