KUALA LUMPUR – “Coronavirus is not your fault, nobody is to blame if you are infected, don’t feel sorry and guilty.”
A netizen recently shared a story about a frontline doctor’s journey in fighting the pandemic and her encounter with a Covid-19 victim’s family member who feels sorry for front-liners on Facebook.
According to the post, Dr Kai Ling said family members are not allowed to visit during patients’ isolation treatment period. One night, a patient’s son happened to call her to ask about his father’s condition. After Dr Kai Ling explained his father’s condition in detail, he apologized to her because his father was infected, indirectly adding a further burden to the front-liners.
“Sorry doctor, if I knew that my father would be infected with Covid-19, I would not have taken him to the hospital and trouble all the doctors and nurses.” When I heard these words, I almost drop my tears. I told him that it was not anyone’s fault to contract Covid-19. Don’t feel sorry or guilty.
“As doctors, our responsibility is to do our best to save patients, no matter what kind of virus or disease. In the midst of these difficulties, care and support for each other are important. We should stop the finger-pointing during this pandemic and be responsible.”
“I sincerely hope that all Malaysians can tide over this difficulty safely. Let’s look forward to the day when we can all go out freely and breathe fresh air,” Dr Kai Ling said.
